Yacht Club de Monaco “A Spirit, a Team, a Club” Founded in 1953 by Prince Rainier and chaired since 1984 by S.A.S. the Prince Albert II, the Yacht Club de Monaco joins together in its prestigious Club House more than 950 members of 53 nationalities. Renovation works to the Yacht Club de Monaco, due for completion in early 2010, will offer both amateur and professional yachtsmen a welcoming and functional meeting place, with its magnificent architecture contributing to the glorious landscape of the Hercules Port and the prestige of the Principality. The refurbishment of this well-established institution serves as a symbol of the regeneration of the harbour, intended to animate and revitalize this essential district of Monte Carlo. The new complex, designed by Lord Norman Foster in collaboration with the Monegasque architect Alexandre Girald, will boast a restaurant (exclusive to yacht club members), an exhibition room, a terrace, a swimming pool, a car park and five VIP cabins to accommodate distinguished guests. The work will be completed under the Haute Qualité Environnementale HQE® initiative, which ensures that all works are carried out in as eco-friendly as manner as possible. An ambitious project, the transformation of the Yacht Club endeavours to bring Monaco into the third millennium. |
