Day Three of The Rendezvous began early for the chefs participating in the Rendezvous Chefs Competition. All participants received an identical basket of produce and were set the task of preparing a main dish and dessert to be critiqued by the judging panel, comprised of internationally acclaimed chefs and industry experts.

Guests enjoyed a day of activities on the beautiful waters of the Côte d’Azur, beginning with a poker run by tender organised by Yacht Club de Monaco. Six yacht tenders and a luxurious Maxi Dolphin set off in quest of various destinations around the port, stopping by some of the Principality’s most iconic locations. The final stop saw the teams head back to the Quai des Etas-Unis, where they presented their hands to a croupier from the Casino de Monte-Carlo and enjoyed refreshments on board MY Mystere. The winning team from MY 4H received a bottle of champagne and a table at famous Monaco nightspot Jimmy’z.

In the evening, guests turned out in their finest whites for our famous Diamonds & White Party, hosted this year at the exclusive Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel. For the first time in the history of the event, the Rendezvous fleet left the port for an evening cruise to this picturesque location where the Mediterranean takes centre stage.

A three course meal prepared by Michelin starred chef Philippe Jégo was served on the water’s edge, offering spectacular views of the fleet anchored off Port Gallice. As night fell, guests took to the floor and danced under the stars until the early hours. The Port of Monaco graciously opened during the night to accommodate the returning fleet, giving owners the opportunity to return to Monaco in the comfort of their yachts.

All guests of The Rendezvous gathered at the Yacht Club de Monaco this morning to bid each other Farewell over brunch. The winners of the various competitions were announced by Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media, who thanked guests and sponsors for making the 21st anniversary event such a special occasion.

The final award of the prize giving was the Art de Vivre La Belle Classe Moët & Chandon presented by Yacht Club de Monaco. Established in 2005, this award pays tribute to owners who have a love of the ocean and the yachting life, show respect for etiquette and acknowledges the behaviour of their crew. La Belle Classe was presented to Salvatore & Paola Trifiro, owners of SY Zefira, who were delighted to receive the prize. ‘We always enjoy ourselves in Monaco, but being here for The Rendezvous has been our best visit yet. We’ve made so many new friends and the organisation of the event has been perfect’, said Mrs. Trifiro.

The Rendezvous in Monaco will return in June 2012, welcoming motor and sailing yachts of over 30m in length.

Shortly after 11:00, the fleet began to depart from Port Hercule to gather for the formation cruise. Under the direction of Captain Jason Lambourn of MY Angara, the yachts lined up a mile off shore and proceeded to cruise in company at a steady speed of 8 knots on their way to St Jean Cap Ferrat.

The yachts dropped anchor at the beautiful Paloma Beach, built in the post-war years and a favourite of some of Hollywood’s greatest names. Paloma Beach has maintained much of its 1950’s charm and boasts spectacular views over Beaulieu and Cap d’Ail.

Guests tendered ashore and were greeted with champagne and canapés, before settling down to enjoy a long lunch and an afternoon of fun on the beach. Paris-designer Jasmin Santanen previewed her latest beachwear collection with a fashion show at the water’s edge.

The busy social programme continued in the evening with a relaxed dinner at the Yacht Club de Monaco, one of the world’s finest yacht clubs.

Today, we look forward to another fun-filled day on the water. For the first time in Rendezvous history, the fleet will leave the port this evening for the Twilight Cruise in Company to Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel for our famous Diamonds & White Party.

Today in the heart of Port Hercule, a selection of the world’s finest superyachts are lined up along the Quai des États-Unis ready for the first full day of activities at The Rendezvous in Monaco 2011, an annual event for superyacht owners and their families.

The event kicked off yesterday afternoon with a private luncheon for the superyacht owners in attendance on board the host yacht, 64m Felicita West. The luncheon, sponsored by Maybach, allowed owners to socialise with like-minded peers in a privatised setting, berthed alongside some of the most impressive superyachts on the water today. Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media welcomed owners to The Rendezvous and Bernard D’Alessandri presented temporary memberships to the Yacht Club de Monaco. A delicious three-course menu was devised especially for the occasion by the decorated chefs at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, and guests were treated to a private performance by world famous Stradivari violinist Benjamin Schmid.

For California native June Grossberg, who has a permanent berth for her 27m motor yacht Volare Ancora in Fontvieille, the performance by Benjamin Schmid was the highlight of Day 1. ‘I love classical music and to have a private performance by an artist of Benjamin’s caliber in such an intimate setting was a unique experience; one I’ll never forget. Combining the beauty of the yachts in this fantastic setting with this performance was just perfect.’

In the evening, all Rendezvous guests were welcomed to the Principality with a Cocktail on the Quai des États-Unis, sponsored by Monaco Tourism and attended by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. The champagne continued to flow as owners opened house for the Rendezvous Yacht Hop, inviting guests onboard for canapés and hospitality. Celebrity chefs from the Relais & Chateux Group joined in the fun and prepared some of their signature dishes onboard participating yachts. Musical entertainment created a wonderful party atmosphere on the dock, as owners and their guests reconnected with old acquaintances and made new friends in Monaco, the glamorous home of superyachting.

As guests strolled from one yacht to the next, they were tempted by the inspired creations of bartending crew participating in the first annual Rendezvous Cocktail Competition. A new addition to the programme this year, crew were set the challenge of creating a unique, vodka based cocktail. An expert panel of judges decided the winner, who will remain secret until the Rendezvous Prize Giving at the Yacht Club de Monaco on Sunday.

Today looks set to be another beautifully sunny day in Monaco – perfect for a day à la plage, as Rendezvous guests prepare for the Cruise in Company to Paloma Beach in St Jean Cap Ferrat.

Guests and friends met at the Yacht Club de Monaco this morning to bid each other farewell at the conclusion of The Rendezvous in Monaco by Boat International Media.

On another beautiful sunny day in the Principality of Monaco, the Yacht Club hosted a brunch for the owners and guests of 13 superyachts ranging from 39m to 75m with a combined length overall of nearly 700 metres, which over the past four days have participated in fun and friendship on and off the waters of Monaco.

After brunch, General Secretary of the Yacht Club de Monaco, Bernard d’Alessandri, and Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media, invited guests to The Rendezvous in Monaco prizegiving. The first awards were presented for the Concours des Chefs, in which the chefs of each participating superyacht competed for the honour of impressing a panel of Michelin-starred chefs who judged their culinary skills.

Chair of the judges is Head Chef to HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Christian Garcia, who kept the audience in suspense for the final outcome before revealing the winning chef, Michael Goller of My Petra, a 44-metre Heesen yacht. Mr Goller could not disguise his pride and delight at winning as he raised his trophy aloft in triumph, along with a jeroboam of Moët & Chandon. “This is thrilling to win this prize,” said Mr Goller. “I knew I’d done a good job but then I knew all the other chefs would have done a good job too, otherwise they would not be working on a superyacht, so I can’t tell you how excited I am to win this award.” Craig Stevens, chef of the 62.5m Icon, won a Special Commendation for Outstanding Dessert.

Final award of the prizegiving was for the Prix “Art de Vivre La Belle Classe Moët & Chandon”. Again this was judged by a panel of five experts, representing the Yacht Club de Monaco, Boat International Media and Moët & Chandon.
Since its creation in 2005 at the instigation of HSH Prince Albert II, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco, “La Belle Classe” has established a code of good conduct and etiquette among members of the superyacht industry, with the intention that “Today’s superyachts can survive the test of time to become the classic yachts of tomorrow.”

The award pays tribute to the owners of superyachts’ way of “Living the Sea” and the judges were asked to consider three criteria:

- The owner’s approach and philosophy of “living the sea”
- Respect for etiquette
- Crew behaviour during the week and quality of greeting

The judges agreed that the winners of the Prix “Art de Vivre La Belle Classe Moët & Chandon” should be Mr. & Mrs. Howard Meyers, owner of Ingot, a 47-metre yacht launched in 2008 by the American shipyard, Burger Boat Company. “It’s wonderful to win such an accolade, and we’re very happy,” said Mr Meyers afterwards.

The Rendezvous brought owners of superyachts together in ways that have never been done before. Today Superyacht Media presented a music montage of some of the highlights of the past few days, and some extraordinary helicopter footage reminded guests of that wonderful cruise in formation to Cap Ferrat two days ago.

Raffaele Costa, owner of the AMY Admiral 54 superyacht, Sea Force One, and a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco, said: “The Rendezvous has managed to bring owners and their guests together in a way that has never been done before. It’s a very unique event and more people need to learn about The Rendezvous and experience it for themselves. This year has been incredibly well organised, spot on with the weather. Going out to sea was great, and maybe next year we could even go out for one night on the sea. That could be extraordinary. But this year’s event is the result of a lot of hard work and we have enjoyed a beautiful time in Monaco.”

The next Rendezvous in Monaco will take place in June 2011. For further information, please contact:

Sometimes things just go your way and today at The Rendezvous in Monaco, the stars aligned beautifully for Lürssen’s 60m Linda Lou.

While yesterday was a day for the whole fleet to cruise en masse along the beautiful Cote d’Azur, today the ladies and men went off to do their own thing. A group of 30 ladies met for cocktails at Graff’s new Monte-Carlo boutique in the Hôtel de Paris, which opened for the first time today. It was a particularly special moment for Linda von Allmen, owner of Linda Lou, who was the first customer to pass through the door and see the exclusive diamond collection. “Ten years ago my husband and I were the first customers to be invited into Graff’s other Monaco store, so it’s really exciting to come back to Monaco and once again to be the first customer to enter their new shop,” she said.

Store manager Madame Nicole Rey welcomed the ladies for lunch at Le Grill in the Hôtel de Paris and new friendships were forged between the superyacht owners and VIP guests from the Principality. Afterwards, some ladies returned to the Graff store before shopping in Monte-Carlo’s many fabulous boutiques while others opted for a relaxing afternoon of spa and beauty treatments courtesy of Carole Joy, London.

Meanwhile the men were living out the James Bond lifestyle in a Poker Run, a contest that pitted nine of the superyacht crew against each other in a water-borne game of poker. Tenders from nine of the Rendezvous superyacht fleet were sent off in quest of five different destinations around the waters of Monte-Carlo.

At each destination, the teams were given the chance to select an envelope from a bowl, each containing a single playing card. Having pitstopped at some of the Principality’s iconic waterside venues, including the Monaco Beach Hotel and the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel, the teams sped back to the Yacht Club de Monaco. Here a croupier from the Casino de Monte-Carlo revealed which team held the winning hand.

The gods of Monte-Carlo were smiling on the crew of Linda Lou, who produced a pair of aces to scoop the prize – a table at Jimmy’z, Monaco’s exclusive night club, and a bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne. Michael Schueler from Linda Lou revealed his winning strategy as he celebrated victory. “At every bowl I selected the third envelope from the left – there was method to our madness,” he said. “So tonight we’ll be inviting six or seven thousand of our closest friends along to Jimmy’z to share the champagne!”

Thomas Haffa, owner of 4H, a 38.5m Sanlorenzo, joked that he’d be changing his strategy for next year’s Poker Run. “We had two 5’s in our hand, which was not good enough to win, so we need to improve! It was challenging finding the five marks for the five cards, but it was very good fun, nice to get out on the water on such a beautiful day.”

For this evening’s social programme, Linda Lou is rounding off an already special day by inviting other superyacht owners and their guests to a cocktail party on board the Lürssen 60m. From there the party moves to the Monte-Carlo Beach Club for the Diamonds and White Rendezvous Party, with live music from the fabulous Soul Division. Across the port, superyacht crew take the party to Stars ‘N’ Bars and the world’s first Monte Carlo RaceRoom for some friendly competition on state-of-the-art, professional racing simulators and an intoxicating mix of cars and cocktails.

With the final day of the programme tomorrow, it’s going to be a late night in Monte-Carlo for guests of The Rendezvous!

The Port of Monaco may be considered the European home of superyachting, but even this glittering Principality had never witnessed the spectacle of 10 superyachts representing nine of the world’s largest shipyards motoring across the sea in beautifully orchestrated formation.

Day 2 of The Rendezvous saw the fleet depart the harbour one by one this morning to gather for the formation cruise. A hectic time for the harbour master but a wonderful sight nonetheless. With the fleet gathered a mile out to sea from Monaco, Superyacht Media captured this unique moment on film from a low flying helicopter as the yachts motored, line abreast, serenely to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat a few miles along the Cote d’Azur. This truly was the photo opportunity of a lifetime!

Guests arrived by tender to the restaurant at the private and secluded Paloma Beach for a relaxing lunch and cocktails. Some cooled off for a swim while the more adventurous went wakeboarding and jet-skiing. The fleet returned home in the early evening to Monaco, in time for this evening’s black-tie dinner at the iconic Hotel de Paris.

It had been a fun day on the water, an opportunity to see the yachts do what they do best. Mark Cavendish of Heesen Yachts called it: “A fantastic day, a great first occasion and I’m convinced it will be the first of many to come. I have taken a bet with the organiser Tony Harris that we will see at least double the number of yachts next year. It has been a great day for all of us, and I think the owners have really enjoyed sailing their yachts together.”

Legendary yacht designer Ron Holland described it as “a unique and educational event in a beautiful setting.” Argentinean naval architect, Horacio Bozzo, commented: “This event pulls together all aspects of the yachting world, the owners, the designers, the builders, the media and the sea. The big thing is seeing all the yachts in action and, even more important, everyone has had fun today.”

This evening at the Hotel de Paris, superyacht owners, celebrities, and European royalty look forward to the official fundraiser of The Rendezvous, the Bal d’Oceana. Under the patronage of H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco and hosted by marine conservation charity Oceana, guests will enjoy a champagne reception on the Cote Jardin Terrasse, followed by a four-course dinner and live music entertainment courtesy of jazz sensation Clare Teal.

Today at the heart of Port Hercule in The Principality of Monaco, thirteen magnificent superyachts lined-up along the privatized Quai des Etats Unis for the largest ever edition of The Rendezvous in Monaco. Almost 700 metres of superyachts combined makes this the most significant collection of yachts ever to attend this exclusive event.

Four days of a fun-filled on the water and social programme began this morning with a small private Luncheon on board Feadship’s 65m M/Y Trident exclusively for owners. Bernard d’Alessandri, General Director of the Yacht Club de Monaco presented these special guests with temporary membership to the Yacht Club de Monaco.

The Rendezvous opened officially with a Champagne Welcome Cocktail hosted by Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media, Bernard d’Alessandri of Yacht Club de Monaco, Theo Hooning, Secretary General of SYBAss, Jim Simon, Executive Vice President of Oceana and Michel Bouquier, Director of Monaco Tourism who kindly sponsored the Welcome Cocktail onboard the magnificent 75m S/Y Phocea.

Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media commented: “We are so happy to be here and re-launch The Rendezvous under the ownership of Boat International Media. It’s a pleasure to be standing upon as famous a yacht as Phocea, looking as though she’s just come out of the yard. Enjoy the yachts, enjoy the champagne and enjoy the company.”

Guests over spilled into the SYBAss Design Gallery and along the dock to hear the welcome speeches, following which entertainment kicked off with live music by the Gypsy Queens, sponsored by Chopard. In true tradition, The Rendezvous Yacht Hop allowed proud owners to welcome guests on board their private yachts for drinks and hospitality as the sun set over Monaco. Excited to return to Monte Carlo, guests continued into the night at the iconic nightspots around the Place du Casino and later onto Jimmy’z.
