Taking place at Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, the gala was attended by superyacht owners and celebrities including Oceana’s longtime supporter and board member Ted Danson. The evening included a champagne reception and 4 course dinner, a short presentation and dancing to live music from jazz sensation Clare Teal. “We have been talking to Oceana for a long time. We think Oceana does great work and we see this as a long term strategic partnership,” said Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media. “We share the same goals. Our yacht owners all share a common love of the Oceans and all understand the need to protect the fragile ecosystems within them. We are honored to be working with a marine conservation charity that really achieves measurable results and can demonstrate a successful track record in its short history.” “We are honoured to be the official charity of The Rendezvous in Monaco in 2010,” said Andrew Sharpless, CEO of Oceana. “We are delighted to share this occasion with others that have a similar passion for protecting the world’s oceans.” Oceana campaigns to protect and restore the world’s oceans. Its teams of marine scientists, economists, lawyers and advocates win specific and concrete policy changes to reduce pollution and to prevent the irreversible collapse of fish populations, marine mammals and other sea life. Global in scope and dedicated to conservation, Oceana has campaigners based in North America, South and Central America and Europe. More than 300,000 members and e-activists in over 150 countries have already joined Oceana. This year it is expanding its reach by opening an office in Paris, France. |
